01

History stays on your Mac by default

Pause capture, exclude source apps, or clear content. Passwords and keys in ordinary text fields may still be captured, so exclude sensitive material yourself.

02

Recognize text right on your Mac

OCR uses Apple Vision on your Mac to make images searchable. Images don't need to be sent to a model.

03

Confirm before sending to AI

Selected material is sent to your configured service only when you ask a question. The recipient and the scope of what will be sent are clearly shown.

FAQ

Get help ↗
How is this different from the Mac clipboard?

PasteDot keeps multiple copied items, with search, favorites, previews, and editing to help you find them again. The number of saved items depends on your settings. File cards store references, not backups of the originals.

Is my copied content uploaded?

Copy history stays on your Mac by default. iCloud sync is off until you turn it on. With Ask AI, your question, selected material, and relevant conversation are sent to the model service you configure. You are asked to confirm the first send and any change to the recipient or sending scope. You can also pause capture, exclude source apps, or clear history anytime.

Which version can I download now?

The website edition is available, with in-app update checks, downloads, and installation. Open the downloaded DMG and drag the app into Applications to install it.

Do I need to set up AI to use PasteDot?

History, search, favorites, OCR, and pasting work on their own. Ask AI requires your own compatible endpoint, model, and API key if the service needs one. The model provider charges for its service separately.

Which permissions are needed to get started?

Pasting directly into another app requires permission to send the system paste shortcut. The app guides you through this. You can still copy and paste manually without it. File access and browser reading in the App Store edition request their own permissions when needed.
